It was a trip they had been planning for two years, a camping trip to a beach in Maine. As soon as they got to the beach, they picked the perfect camping spot and unloaded the car. They set up the tent, and then Emily and her sister went to play in the sand. After that they decided to go for a swim in the ocean. Emily got tired so she went up to the beach and found a cool seashell that was blue and purple. Suddenly something shiny caught her eye. She dug it out of the sand and realized it was a bottle. When she looked a little closer, she saw there was a message inside.
She was so surprised and curious about what the message said. She sprinted to her parents and showed them and her sister what she had founded.

They opened the bottle together and read the note that said, ” My name is Oliver Cruz, and I am from New York. If you find this message, give it back to me and tell me where you found it, October 4, 1906.”
So, Emily decided to go on an adventure to return the bottle to the family of that person. Her family packed up and went home to get ready. The next day they left on a road trip to New York. It took five days to get there. When they finally got there, they checked into a hotel. Next they started searching for the address of Oliver Cruz’s family. The home was at 24 Chocolate Street. The next day, they woke up and started looking for the house. When they found it, they saw that it was old. It was white with flowers in the front.
When Emily knocked on the door, a girl answered and asked what was wrong. Emily told her they found a message in a bottle from the Cruz family. The girl said that they are the Pearl family. Emily asked where they live now. The girl told them 78 Lavender Street in uptown New York. Which was two hours away. So, they packed their stuff and went for a drive to Lavender Street. After two hours they finally made it and they checked into a hotel.
The next day Emily went on an adventure with her family to find Lavender Street. They finally found that street after asking ten people. They had a hard time finding 78 street. So, they decided to ask another person. She said that 78 street was only down the road on the left. Emily then followed the directions and reached the house.
When she got there, she rang the doorbell, and a boy named Justin answered. She asked him if this was part of the Cruz family, and he said, “Yes.” So Emily gave him the bottle and explained to him that that was probably his great grandfather's message. Justin ran to his mother. She said that the message in a bottle was something that the great grandfather had done. Then we said goodbye and went home to Maine. Emily was happy that she was able to return the message in a bottle to the Cruz family.
